Kitay-Gorod is an open-air museum. The oldest district of Moscow is located inside the defensive wall attached to the corner towers of the Kremlin. It is here that ancient churches, merchant mansions, historical monuments of Russian architecture have been preserved. The Moscow Printing Yard and the Slavic-Greek-Latin Academy were built on Nikolskaya Street, the Stock Exchange and Gostiny Dvor were built on Ilyinka, and the first embassy in Rus' was built on Varvarka.
